Lake County Public Works is a sewer and water provider to 40% of Lake County residents and owns, operates, and maintains more than 750 miles of pipe, three water reclamation facilities, more than 100 pump stations, an excess flow facility and a 1-mile-long levee.
This Public Works position is to assist in the development and tracking of environmental and safety programs as well as clerical work.
Essential Functions Development, tracking and implementation of safety, water/wastewater monitoring, records management and technical/non-technical training.
CodeRed customer notification system.
Department event planning.
Clerical duties including but not limited to the production of general correspondence for IEPA and the general public.
Back up for the Executive Assistant.
Other duties as assigned Knowledge Skills Abilities and Education Required Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to prepare correspondence independently or based on notes.
Maintain complex records and prepare reports.
Good knowledge of spelling, punctuation and grammar is essential, as well as strong record management skills.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher and PowerPoint).
Education and/or Other Requirements:
Completion of a high school program or GED.
Two years of experience is preferred.
Supplemental Information Physical Requirements:
Performs light to medium work that involves walking, standing, stooping, jumping, stretching, or lifting.
